The grant helps young and active neurologists to expand their knowledge in neurology, work on scientific projects and most of all, enables them to build up new connections and also to study the practice of neurology in different countries. The duration of the projects varies between 3 and 12 months. The financial support amounts to the net salary in accordance with the salary scale of the host institution up to a maximum of € 1.600 per month plus travel expenses.
The applications for the 2004 fellowships must reach EFNS Head Office by February 28, 2004. Applicants must submit an application form, a CV, a list of publications, and a description of the project. Additionally it is required to submit a recommendation from the chair of the home department and an acceptance from the chair of the host institution.
The evaluation and selection is performed by a reviewing body consisting of the chair of the EFNS Teaching Course Committee, members of the EFNS Education Committee and the chair of the relevant EFNS Scientist Panel. The selection is based on the quality and originality of the project, combined with applicant’s ability as a clinician and scientist as revealed by the CV, list of publications and the letter of recommendation. The evaluating body also decides on the amount of the grant per month.
